As part of Go To Nation's commitment to ongoing Personal and Leadership Development for our members, an annual process for setting goals, combined with an assessment and review of the previous year, serves as an important tool.

We understand from a biblical and practical perspective that having defined goals with time requirements and measurable results are valuable keys to personal leadership development and promotion, as well as ministry growth and success.

Significant strength is added to the development process when leaders set aside time to objectively evaluate how we are doing. As leaders, we are wise to set personal, spiritual, financial and ministry goals and objectives, note any challenges we are facing, assess strengths and weaknesses, and review our progress.

We would suggest setting aside a day or two early in the year to seek God-given directives, and consider personal goals and objectives in the areas of ministry, finance, and spiritual and personal development. State those goals as simply and as clearly as you can, and identify action steps and timelines as needed. Then, use the goals of this year's Self-Assessment as you review your progress next year and so on.

"The Self-Assessment is an essential part of performance evaluation because it is an opportunity for you to assess your own achievements. You own the performance appraisal. You should look across the past year and tell your manager what you've done and areas you'd like to focus on," says Michelle Roccia, Executive Vice President of Employee Engagement at WinterWyman.

Note: You will need to review your current job description and update your Personal Development Plan (if previously done) before completing this Self-Assessment.
